Ben is a consultant solicitor specialising in residential lease extension and enfranchisement claims for both leaseholders and freeholders.

He can provide expert advice to anyone considering extending their lease or purchasing their freehold, both in relation to flats and leasehold houses.

Ben originally trained and qualified in the field of Electronic Engineering and subsequently read Law at Brunel University, before attending the College of Law in London to undertake the Legal Practice Course. He qualified as a solicitor in 2012, working for clients in London and the south.

  • Acting for a collective of leaseholders to oust their troublesome freeholder and enable them to take control of the freehold to their properties;
  • Assisting a family purchasing the freehold of their leasehold house in the face of a particularly awkward freeholder;
  • Extending the lease of a flat in Kensington with just seven years remaining on their lease – at a premium of over £1.2m.

Outside of work you will usually find Ben spending time with his young family, watching rugby, enjoying the British countryside, camping around the UK or travelling further afield.

“Ben was absolutely first class throughout the process. He explained it all in non-legalese language, kept me regularly updated, liaised with other individuals as needed and charged a very fair price. I have no hesitation in recommending him and will definitely return should I need further legal help in the future.”

“Ben Colenutt has just completed the lease extension for one of our properties. He is just outstanding – professional, knowledgeable, easy to work with and good value. A rare combination nowadays. Anything to do with lease extensions and enfranchisement and we only use Ben. Highly recommended!!”

“Ben stepped in and managed a rather difficult leasehold extension issue I needed resolving to achieve a remortgage – being the sole freeholder – I couldn’t grant the extension to myself! Ben had the solution, executed it efficiently and without stress or fuss – also herding the mortgage company and conveyancing solicitor appropriately to get the job concluded.”
