Omar is Head of Employment and specialises in advising both employers and individuals on all aspects of employment law.
He has extensive experience in advising on redundancies, restructures and reorganisations and in transactional advice, including TUPE implications for both employers and employees.
A large proportion of his work involves dealing with employment tribunal litigation, such as drafting claims and/or grounds of resistance and witness statements. This often includes negotiating directly with opponents, or via ACAS, to achieve the best possible outcome for clients.
Omar also regularly advises on procedural issues such as disciplinary and grievance matters, sensitive internal investigations, recruitment or exit strategies, advising new and existing businesses on developing staff handbooks and including social media policies and hybrid working policies.
Omar studied Law at the University of Sheffield, graduating in 1993, and he completed his Legal Practice Course there in 1995.
Omar trained with a small firm in the City and qualified as a solicitor in 1998, where he became the Employment associate, acting for both employers and individuals.
He developed his employment practice working in-house in the private sector, and in local and central government, before heading up the employment department here at Peacock & Co.

· Instrumental in challenging the discriminatory culture of a multi-million pound organisation by transforming their practices/procedures.

Omar grew up in Madrid and lived in Kuwait for four years, prior to attending secondary school in Dorset. As a Spanish national, he completed 12 months’ military service in Madrid (where he was a tank driver!) before returning to England to start university.
Omar is a native Spanish speaker, is fluent in French and Swedish and speaks Arabic.
As an avid football fan and FA qualified coach, he recently hung up his coaching boots having coached and managed his sons’ teams for over 10 years, and continues to play amateur football competitively two-three times a week.
