Employer or Employed? Five changes to statutory payment rates to know now

From the first week of April 2026, employees have been entitled to increased rates on a whole range of entitlements and claims.  A more comprehensive list can be found on our easy reference 2026/2027 factsheet which also details important eligibility changes to some entitlements.

Below is a simplified shortlist of five of the most often used rates that have changed and by how much.

Statutory entitlement Old rate From 1 April 2026
Hourly National Minimum Wage for those aged 18 – 20 £10.00 £10.85
Hourly National Living Wage (Age 21+) £12.21 £12.71

Weekly maternity/adoption pay, paternity pay, shared parental leave pay £187.18 £194.32
